After you have gotten your garage door up and your car out then you will want to stop using the garage door until it has been fixed. This may mean getting out all of your cars at the same time or keeping your cars in the driveway for a few days. While this may seem like a hassle and like it defeats the purpose of having a garage in the first place it is much better to have your garage door spring replaced before something truly dangerous happens. Your cars will most likely be back in your garage in no time and you will be thankful that they didn’t get damaged by opening and closing the garage door manually a number of times. Once all of your cars are out of your garage it is also important to close your garage door again. This may take some help as the garage door will still be much heavier than you are used to it being, so make sure to have a few people help you with the task if you can. This will keep the garage door from coming down unexpectedly and damaging itself or anyone in the process.

If you don’t want to deal with the trouble and want to simply play things on the safe side it is really a two step process. You will investigate your garage and make a call to get somebody to repair your garage door and in no time you will be back to using your garage door everyday as normal. This however means that you may not have access to your car for a day which means that you will need to get a ride from a coworker, family member or ride service. While this may be an inconvenience for some it will actually end up costing others a small amount of money, on top of the price of a new garage door spring. This is why the other approach is also popular. You can investigate, call a garage door professional and then choose to take matters into your own hands in some respects. This means getting a friend or neighbor over (one who could probably also give you a lift somewhere) so help you lift your garage door and get your car out.
